La Roche-Posay "Effaclar" Products Review

I've been accumulating a few products of La Roche Posay recently. They're all from the Effaclar range and I have been repurchasing some that have become a must for me these past months. I thought I'd review these 3 products.

Effaclar MAT
Amazing product for making your skin matter than ever, which is awesome when your oily skin makes you shiny... I used it under my makeup making a great base/primer and sometimes used it on its own in the mornings on weekends when I wasn't wearing makeup but still wanted to get rid of the shine. Perfect for my girls with oily skins! However, I will disadvise you to buy this to use only as a primer because there are some way cheaper primers that can also do the job. (*cough cough* Rimmel Stay Matte Primer). Overall, extremely pleased with this product, but extremely sad/frustrated daily now that I'm done with this tube.

Will repurchase this.
Effaclar H
My mom actually bought this by mistake one day, but I stil wanted to try it out. I've been liking this moisturizer, but I wasn't that amazed by it. When I apply it to my face I do feel how moisturized and healthy my skin is afterwards, but it doesn't sink in the skin super fast, doesn't make my skin crazy better, and I enjoy other moisturizers that are cheaper.

Will not repurchase this.

Effaclar DUO+
This is an old favorite of mine. I bought this product after seeing a lot of beauty bloggers and youtubers raving about this cream a few months/years before. I gave it a try and I LOVE it. It's an anti-imperfections cream, which basically treats your pimples and makes them disappear quicker. It really helped my skin during the winter and I finished a 2nd tube. However, if you have actual acne I don't think that this product would be effective enough to get rid of it, it wouldn't help your skin immensely. Even for a few of my persistent pimples, I would apply this product but with the Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil layered on top to make it super effective. Overall, amazing product for your pimples despite it being expensive.

Will repurchase this.

Tell me what you thought of these products if you've tried them before.

My Summer Essentials

Exfoliating Scrub: I've made the mistake this summer while in Croatia of not bringing an exfoliator with me. Biggest mistake I tell you. When my skin started peeling off (along with my tan...sniff), I regretted not packing an exfoliator to scrub off all the white dead skin cells. Not cute! The exfoliator I'm currently trying out is the Garnier Pure Active 3-in-1. The small exfoliating beads in it are rather gentle on the skin and would have been great to use on my vacation.

After Sun Lotion: After a long day of tanning at the beach, you have to moisturize your skin in order to maintain the tan you just got. The after sun I was using was the Yves Rocher After-Sun Lotion 3-in-1. Ran out of it, so I don't have a picture of it but it goes to show I really enjoyed it. It moisturized my skin and made it smell delicious which is mostly why I loved it so much. The new one I bought over there is the Nivea After Sun Moisture which also does the job greatly. However, I'm not a big fan of the smell: it smells like mens' shaving cream to me. Will repurchase the Yves Rocher one asap!

Matifying Moisturizer: Skip this product if you don't tend to get shiny on your T-zone. I know that with oily skin however, it tends to happen. My forehead especially is shiny 24/7 and to avoid looking like a disco ball out in the sun, I use a matifying moisturizer. My lifesaver is the Effaclar Mat by La Roche Posay. I've done a review on it here, and I still love it as it keeps me looking matte.

Sunscreen: Always be safe and apply SPF on your entire body. I used an SPF 30 and the one I used on my face was the Nivea Sun SPF 30. It does the job, smells nice, and I applied it underneath my matifying moisturizer. I don't know if you can do that, but I just did and it worked well. However, I would love to find a good matifying moisturizer with built-in SPF 30. It would make my life easier ngl.

Body Mist: To smell nice during those summer days, I used Zoella's Blissful Mistful Body Mist and I LOVE IT. I've been a big fan of Zoe's for quite a while now and this body mist smells delicious: citrusy, fresh, and light is how I'd describe it. I loved to spritz some especially before going out for dinner in the evenings. I have to say perfumes and body mists are definitely my thing and I would buy many more if I could. Congrats Zoe and can't wait to get my hands on the new mist from the new range, much excite!

Waterproof Mascara: Finally, the beauty essential I like to bring with me during summer is waterproof mascara. I usually only wear some in the evenings because I don't like to worry about it much during the day. The one I absolutely adore is the Gosh Waterproof Mascara. It seperates my eyelashes, holds the curl nicely, and does not clump. Also, I decided to try out Maybelline's Waterproof Lash Sensational Mascara and did not like it. I find the formula very thick and clumpy. I think all the hype was more for the non-waterproof version which I will then maybe try out, but I did not enjoy this one.

Tell me some of your summer essentials!

The Body Shop "Tea Tree" Products Review

I've been using these three products over the last couple months, all from The Body Shop's 'Tea Tree' range. As you can tell, I'm a big fan of The Body Shop and I especially love this range, as I have oily skin. This blogpost should rather be entitled "My Empties Review" because I'm completely done with these, except the little Oil bottle which I'm trying to use with moderation ;) Hope you like my review!

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser-

First up, the foaming cleanser (first on the left) I have absolutely loved. I used it about three times a week but I suppose you could use it every day. It's gentle- so great for sensible skin- and does its job. It cleansed my oily skin and left it matte afterwards. It's not the type of cleanser that will eliminate all of your acne and imperfections but I did find it helped for reducing them gently. I'm currently using Garnier's Pure Active Fruit Energy Foam Wash and realizing now how much better and clearer this Tea Tree cleanser made my skin.

Will repurchase this whenever I get the chance to go to the Body Shop again!

Tea Tree Blemish Face Night Lotion-

Now this lotion claims to "help improve the appearance of blemish-damaged skin". I've used this in winter when my skin was "blemish-damaged" but I haven't noticed a major difference when using this product. I used it every night, but I feel like it didn't make my skin any clearer (but didn't make it worst either phew). Also, my skin didn't "miss" this product if I hadn't applied it one night if you know what I mean. It goes to show that it wasn't an amazing super effective product on my skin at least.

Will not repurchase this.

Tea Tree Oil-

This last tiny product, in contrast with the lotion, is super effective. I purchased it after seeing only very positive reviews on the website and I don't regret it. When I applied a little bit of this oil onto my blemishes (to not say zits :P) at night, they were considerably reduced or almost gone the next morning. I'm pretty sure this would work great against acne. So yes, this is a good one! I will say however that the packaging/small tip of the bottle made it difficult for its usage. I was quite unsure of how to apply the oil at first and tried with a q-tip which I think isn't the best as you don't get enough of the product. For me, I found that the best way to use it is to apply the oil with clean fingers. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product.

Will maybe repurchase this in winter if I have a hard time getting my skin clear with other decent products I own.

What are your current favorite skincare products? I'd really like to know!

Lush Review: Jingle Bells Gift Set- Christmas Edition

Thought I'd make a quick review of this Lush gift set I had gotten for Christmas (even though we're in April haha). This gift set contains 6 different bath bombs in the most adorable packaging ever: it's a round sparkly box with colorful jingle bells around the lid. I'm pretty sure they're only Christmas limited edition bath bombs by the way. I had never tried out any of these bath bombs before, so I have to say I was very excited to use them. Hope you like this little review!

The Christmas Hedgehog- How cute is this, seriously! Despite its small size, it made SO much bubbles and made the bath very relaxing with its comforting smell.

Mini Comforter (or Cassimousse) I was also very impressed by the amount of bubbles this little bath bomb made. Along with all those bubbles, it gave the water a pink tint. Definitely one of my faves!
Golden Wonder- First off, love the name! This bath bomb was massive compared to the others and was unexpected in the bath. If you want a sparkly bath, this one's for you: the gold sparkles stick to the bathtub, but gives a beautiful shine to the water. However, I did have sparkles on my body when I got out of the bath: not one of my faves. Also, it was surprising to see that the inside of it is green, which makes the water green with gold shimmer.

Luxury Lush Pud- I remember this one having a nice lavender scent that I really liked. Despite not making a lot of bubbles, it made the water so colorful and nice. I will definitely be repurchasing this one!

Magic Wand- This very popular one is so nice to use by swishing it around in the water and has such a sweet, candy-like, girly scent. It says that it makes lots of bubbles, but I had to leave it for a long time under the tap until it made enough. Still a nice one!

Drummers Drumming- Not gonna lie, haven't used this one yet. Nonetheless, it smells just like the Magic Wand one (aka delicious). Can't wait to use it :)

Comment below what are your fave Lush bath bombs!

Healthy Banana Pancakes

I do love eating pancakes once in a while, but it's even better if they're rather healthy while still being really tasty. Since I've found this recipe, I have only been using this one whenever I'm craving pancakes. No flour, sugar, butter, or milk needed. That's right, this recipe is mainly based on bananas and eggs.

For 10 small pancakes (5 large ones),
you'll need:

 1 (very ripe) banana
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

That's it!

(You can double or even triple the measurements if you want to make more.)

1. Mash the banana

                                                         2. Add the 2 eggs to the mashed banana

                                                      3. Add the 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon and
                                                                              baking powder

4. For each pancake, spoon 1-2 tablespoon of the mixture onto a pan. You can
add thin banana slices on each pancake if you'd like.

5.Serve warm on a plate, with drizzled honey (which is healthier)
and banana slices. Enjoy!

Let me know if you make some of these!

Photography of the Month #1

Since I've gotten my new camera for my birthday last December, I've compiled quite a few pictures and experimented a lot with it. I thought I'd share pictures I took from last month: January. I've selected the "best" ones or the ones I like best and find interesting. Keep in mind that I have been experimenting with my camera, so there may be some very random pictures.
January's photos are quite special as there are pictures of New Year's Eve which I've spent with my friends. I also wanted to include one or two Christmas photos that I especially like and had to share on my blog.
I quite like this concept of selecting a few pictures (5-12 maybe) taken the previous month and share them in a blog post. I'm thinking of doing this every month or so, and it might become like a little series. You can definitely suggest a name for this series, it'd be great! For now, I think I'll be calling it: Photography of the Month #*number*.

Hope you enjoy this new type of post!

My Pinterest & Instagram

Hello everyone! I wanted to make this post all about my Pinterest and Instagram account (yes a little bit of self-promo!).

I don't have a lot of posts on my Instagram, as I'm not Instagram-addicted or anything like some others who post weekly or even daily. I just post pictures on certain occasions of my friends, family, vacations... Although this year, I think one of my New Year's resolution is to post more on there (as well as on my blog if you cared to know), because I want it to be full of pictures and memories that I can just look back on afterwards. I'm getting really pumped about it now! I'm going on vacation in Portugal in February so I'm expecting to post some photos I'll snap over there, get excited :)

As for my Pinterest, I am WAY more obessessed about and active on. I really love this concept of creating boards and pinning different pictures/pins on them. I have 42 boards about everything girly: I pin anything from pics of bands, to food, to shoes, to cute animals, to quotes and many many more. I absolutely love Pinterest as it gives you SO much inspiration and ideas for anything and then you feel so inspired and ready to do/create stuff. I think it's definitely one of those places you can get lost in when you're feeling down or just uninspired. If you haven't made yourself a Pinterest account already, then go make one now: it's pretty useful, i swear! I love it at least.

So of course, you can follow me on Instagram and Pinterest both @cecilel98

Have a nice week-end loves :))
