Holiday Baking: Gingerbread Cookies





 Took pictures while doing one of my favorite things ever: baking. This is holiday baking which makes it 10 times better! My sisters and I made gingerbread cookies this year for the first time, and they were a lot of fun to make and decorate. My sisters made this (really easy-to-make) gingerbread dough and we then added some pastel-colored icing, which made the results very pretty and holiday-themed. Go make some if you haven't already this month, because I guarantee you they taste as yummy as they look :)


For the dough:
350 g flour
4 teaspoons (10 g) yeast
170 g brown sugar
2 teaspoons of spices (cinnamon, anise, ginger, nutmeg, cloves or just a gingerbread mix)
100g soft butter
1 egg
100g sweet liquid honey
 
For the icing:
1 egg white
200 g of icing sugar

1. Preheat oven to 160 ° C.

2. Mix the dry ingredients together.
Add the butter and mix until it becomes crumbly.

3. Stir in the egg and honey and mix until the dough forms a ball.

4. Spread the dough with a rolling pin on a floured surface.
And now use cookie cutters or your imagination to shape your cookies.
Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or buttered).

5. Bake for 7 to 10 minutes until the cookies are golden/lightly brown.
Then let them cool for a few minutes.

6. Meanwhile prepare the icing by gradually adding the icing sugar with the egg white.
Once that is done, you are ready to decorate your gingerbread cookies!
